The Kimono is a national costume and a huge part of Japanese culture. It was born in this land blessed with four beautiful distinguishable seasons. It is said to bring out the inner strength, elegance and grace that are unique to Japanese culture.
In today's world filled with fast fashion and pret-a-porter, kimonos, which we rarely have a chance to wear, contains important meanings and values that are almost forgotten.
The black montsuki kimono with a family crest (kamon) is something that is handed down from generation to generation to show our roots. Like the family crest that has been passed down through the ages, we would like our brand to be timeless and effortless.
The idea for Mudura came from our sister brand, MON DRESS. Mon Dress upcycles those montsuki kimonos to showcase kamons in a new fashion, making dresses and clothing that can be worn daily or to special occasions.

We believe that the beauty and art of the Kimono shouldn’t be restrained to just black fabrics, so MUDURA was born to shine a light on all the beautiful variations in colours, print, and techniques that are also used in the process of making a kimono.
Our founder, Hiroko Kaga, has been in the fashion business for over 20 years and has worked and created relationships with local businesses and craftsmen since the beginning of her career. Our Designer, Hiroshi Goto, is a UAL Alumni and has worked with high-end brands from all over the world, bringing MUDURA a sense of borderless fashion and high quality.
Mudura is proudly designed, outsourced and made in Japan using the best it can offer. Just as kimonos enhance and display what Japan is about, Mudura will deliver dresses that bring out and express your truest colours.
